CURRIER, NATHANIEL. Outward Bound / Homeward Bound.

CURRIER, NATHANIEL. Outward Bound / Homeward Bound. Together two small folio hand-colored lithographs of American clipper ships. 10x13 3/4 inches each sheet size; touches of gum arabic; repaired tear at upper right corner of Outward, minor foxing, soft creases and small edge chips. New York, circa 1850

  • Notes: Published by Currier prior to his collaboration with James Merritt Ives. Outward depicts a three-masted schooner departing New York Harbor with Castle Williams standing on Governors Island at lower left; Homeward is the identical image to "The Gem of the Pacific", published by Currier in 1849, with a re-worked title.
