CUSTER, GEORGE ARMSTRONG. Photograph Signed, "Truly yours G. A. Custer A.D.C." inscribed on the mount below the image, and albumen portrait of Custer
CUSTER, GEORGE ARMSTRONG. Photograph Signed, "Truly yours G. A. Custer A.D.C." inscribed on the mount below the image, and albumen portrait of Custer on his horse, on a Gardner mount [see below]. 6 3/4x4 inches overall; trimmed, image yellowed and creased. Np, circa 1863
- Notes: An uncommon photograph, this appears to be a sized copy print of the larger image by Timothy O'Sullivan, photographed at Pleasonton's headquarters in 1863. Both O'Sullivan and Gardner worked for Brady during the Civil War, explaining the O'Sullivan image on a Gardner mount. See Katz, Custer in Photographs K-14.
