Located along the Nile, not more than a mile from Luxor, Karnak is considered one of the world's largest ancient religious sites, and is one of Egypt's most-visited tourist attractions. Within the massive temple are many elaborate gates and portals, making it difficult to determine exactly which one is pictured here, but the exotic nature of the image would have been an irresistible lure to foreign tourists.
