DAVID KLEIN PARIS / FLY TWA JETS.
40x24 inches. Condition B+: repaired tears and overpainting through top margin; tape stains around text. Dazzling bursts of multi-colored fireworks, in pink, orange, yellow, green, blue and lavender, are exploding around the Eiffel Tower, depicted in shades of blue and purple. This image was recently reused by Orbitz.com as part of a $100 million advertising campaign under the caption "Visit Planet Earth." Orbitz intended for "the ads [to] hearken back to the glory days of jet travel to reawaken the glamour and fun for consumers of discovering Planet Earth by plane - 21st century style." (www.orbitz.com). David Klein, himself, and Robert Swanson, both prominent travel poster artists from the 60s, were called in to work on the job (6 posters in total), and at least three of the posters in the new series reflect some of Klein's original posters.
