Condition A-: vertical and horizontal folds.
Holland, with a solid graphic tradition, the influence of de Stijl and Paul Shuitema and Piet Zwart as vanguards, was one of the leading countries in taking a modernist approach towards advertising. Avant-garde typography was put towards practical applications in the everyday world, at a level unparalleled within Europe. This Lotto poster with the outline of an airplane dramatically placed at an angle within the page, and the stream of text and images behind the plane itself show the level of progressive design that was utilized even for the most mundane, mass-distributed poster.
