Silver print, the image measuring 8x5¼ inches (20.3x13.3 cm.), the sheet 14x11 inches (35.6x27.9 cm.), with the A Diane Arbus Photograph stamp with Doon Arbus' signature, edition notation 1/75, and printer's credit in ink, as well as the Estate Copyright (with the date 1960 in ink) and reproduction limitation stamps, on verso.

With the SFMoMA exhibition/loan label on the occasion of the exhibition Diane Arbus Revelations, October 25, 2003 - October 8, 2006, on mat verso.

This retrospective was organized by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 2003 and traveled to museums in the United States and Europe through 2006.

  • Condition: Diane Arbus's photograph Wax museum strangler, Coney Island, N.Y.,1960; printed circa 1972 by Neil Selkirk, is in excellent condition. The tones of the print are rich and varied, with strong dark charcoal tones and fine detail.

    Under close examination in raking light, the print doesn't appear to have any flaw on its surface. The margins and the verso are also bright and clean, with the A Diane Arbus Photograph stamp with Doon Arbus' signature, edition notation 1/75, and printer's credit in ink, as well as the Estate Copyright (with the date 1960 in ink) and reproduction limitation stamps, on verso.
