Browne ("Phiz"), including the 10 "dark plates." 8vo, blue-green wrappers printed in black, wear to spine tips with slight loss, few small repairs, rear wrapper detached but present on two numbers, small bookseller's label on front cover of two numbers; some foxing to the plates, chiefly marginal; preserved in 1/4 morocco drop-back box. London: Bradbury & Evans, 1852-53

  • Notes: first edition in the original parts. With the "Bleak House Advertiser" in each, including the scarce "Village Pastor" booklet in part 15, and the "Grace Aguilar's Works" ad in part 13 (though lacking in part 16). Hatton & Cleaver pp. 275-304.
