DIE PLATE. A spring-loaded die is placed on the elaborately decorated plate. At the magician's whim the die vanishes. Painted black, trimmed in gilt, and richly decorated with a multi-color floral motif. 8 1/2 inches in diameter (21.5 cm). France, circa 1860.
