  • Condition: Dorothea Lange's "Arkansas Sharecroppers" (circa 1937; printed 1965) is in very nearly excellent condition. The print is lush and dimensional, with detail and beautiful tonal range throughout.

It is possible to find a couple tiny chips at the far lower left edge as well as the tips of the top two corners (these are much more difficult to discern given the lighter tones of the sky). There is a narrow line of what may be retouching near the lower right corner and another near the upper right, but this is minor and difficult to discern. Overall, the surface of the print is bright, neat, and clean.

The print is flush mounted, and mount verso is clean and bright.

Printed under the direct supervision of the photographer from the original negative in 1965 for her MoMA retrospective.

Provenance: The Museum of Modern Art, New York; to Edwynn Houk Gallery, New York; to the Present Owner
