Green Apple Tree is one of the earliest known examples of Dox Thrash's graphic work. After four years of evening classes before his World War I deployment, Thrash was fully enrolled at the Chicago Art Institute from 1920-23 with war veteran funding. During this period, Thrash took commercial poster, lettering and mural design classes. Ittmann pp. 2-3.

  • Condition: Very unobtrusive and very thin, no wider than a mm, horizontal 1 1/4 -inch line of scarttered loss in the lower left stroke of white at the image edge. With a 1/4- 1/2 inch white painted margin, and a slightly unevenly trimmed sheet edge. Slight wear and minor losses at the very edges and corners of the white margin, outside the color image, showing the pink printed cardstock underneath. Otherwise in very good, clean condition. Framed.
