Notes: An important letter to a fellow artist, writing that he does not judge art by whether it meets with acclaim by museums, but focusses on using simple and commonplace means to achieve intense expression. "I like the humble things, the poor means, the very seimple techniques," he writes, "and that by only using these, it is possible to create pieces whose value would be considerably higher than those of the traditional art of the West." After discussing his use of varied colors, he writes, "I do many diverse expressions and like to change techniques. I am under the impression that by constantly changing techniques one prevents art from sinking into vain rhetoric which lacks emotion." He then describes his work as "relief bas" but insists that the "naming his art does not matter as it does not affect the emotional value of the work."
