EDUARDO SARABIA A Thin Line Between Love and Hate.

EDUARDO SARABIA
A Thin Line Between Love and Hate.

Glazed ceramic vase painted in blue with screenprint on two cardboard boxes, 2005. 635x395x315 mm; 25x15 1/2x12 3/8 inches. Signed, titled, dated and numbered "#8" on the base of the vase.

Sarabia (born 1976) examines and critiques the complex relationship between the United States and Mexico. Born in California to Mexican parents, Sarabia embraces his identity to upend stereotypes about drug smuggling and violence along the border, resulting in darkly humorous objects such as the current work, which also satirizes traditional ceramic tourists' souvenirs.
