(EDUCATION.) Jackson, Giles B.; and Davis, D. Webster. The Industrial History of the Negro Race of the United States.
Profusion of illustrations. 8vo, publisher's cloth, small stain on front cover. Richmond: Virginia Press, (1908)
- Notes: first edition. The meaning of "Industrial" in the titlef this book refers to achievement. The book initially deals with slavery and Reconstruction, then goes on to describe Negro achievements in education, and in the arts and trades. The illustrations are reproductions of artwork by students at various schools, and most reproduce work shown in the Negro Exhibit at the Jamestown Exposition (1907). Both authors were educators, and Davis was a well-known poet.
