This image is uncharacteristic of Penfield's work in two respects. First, the poster is largely dominated by text, listing the contents of the magazine for the Christmas season and second, it is an interior view, which figured infrequently in Penfield's oeuvre, almost entirely in his December posters. In fact, influenced in part by the floating world of Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints, the majority of Penfield's posters feature little or no background detail whatsoever. Kiehl 145, Not in DFP I.
