  • Condition: Edward Weston's self-titled portfolio is a stunning collection of his work, including many of his best known images and subjects. Each print displays his expert artistic eye and Cole Weston's incredible darkroom skills. The prints in this portfolio are overall in exceptional condition, most without any visible imperfections and bright, lustrous surfaces.

"Rose, Mexico" shows a tiny nearly imperceptible impression near the lower center edge of the image, but this is minor, and is not at all visible under typical viewing conditions.

"Pepper No. 30" shows two tiny and superficial scuffs near the upper left edge of the sheet (one within the edge of the subject), primarily visible in extremely strong raking light. This would go unnoticed under typical viewing conditions.

The stunning dye transfer print "Blue Dune, Oceano" has two tiny retouching specs in the ripples of the first dune hill. These blend almost seamlessly into the deep tones of the dune. The extreme edges also evidence just a couple tiny and superficial chips.

The mounts are overall clean and bright, with just occasional very faint and unobtrusive soiling marks from handling on verso. "Grass and Sea, Big Sur" has one stray spot of residue at the left side of the mount. The preliminary pages also show faint soiling and darkening.

The portfolio includes 9 of the original 10 in the set.

The portfolio case is overall in good condition. There is wear and softening in the fabric along the edges. On the cover image of the case, there are numerous dents and points of wear throughout, and one notable tear. None of the condition issues in the case hinder its ability to safely and effectively contain the prints in this striking portfolio.
