Jules Roques, the owner of the magazine Le Courier Francaise, was among the most fervent believers in Cheret's work. At one point, he hired the entire curtain of the Theatre des Ambassadeurs, one of the biggest music halls in Paris, and covered it from top to bottom with Cheret's posters, with the name of his publication across the top. Even more ambitiously, he would regularly publish supplements to his magazine which were reductions of posters, the majority of which were designs by Cheret. Although much smaller than the originals, they are of equal quality as they were printed by Chaix under the personal direction of Cheret. A classic Cheret image with two clowns and a dancing girl in front of a red circle, joyfully broadcasting the enticements and merriment of the music hall. Maindron 19, Broido 218.
