Condition: This two-volume set of Emerson's "The Compleat Angler" is bound in gilt-lettered cloth and is soiled, dampstained, and age-darkened at the corners and backstrip. There is also light rubbing to the corners.
Internally, the binding is tight. The plates are clean and rich in both volumes, however there is very faint, scattered foxing to the margins (not affecting the image area). Volume one is also lacking the frontispiece. The front free endpapers are darkened, and there are bookplates on the front pastedowns. Overall a good copy with Coburn's elegant, modernist photographs of the English landscape.
The first demy quarto edition, one of 500 copies signed and numbered by the editor, R.B. Marston.
