[EMERSON, RALPH WALDO.] Conway, M.D. (editor). The Dial: A Monthly Magazine for Literature, Philosophy and Religion. Vol. 1, Nos. 1 to 12, January to December, 1860. • Notes: first edition of the reconstituted dial. emerson''s copy, with the following autograph inscriptions by him: "Evening transcript" on the front wrapper of No. 1; "Transcript" on the front wrapper of No. 2; "Transcript" in pencil, faded, on the front wrapper of No. 9. On the front wrapper of No. 8 is the following faint, mostly faded, inscription in pencil: "Prof. H. W. Longfellow." This inscription is also apparently in Emerson''s hand. First two of the above inscriptions are in pen and ink.
