The first American edition of the Encyclopaedia Perthensis, published by Low in competition to Dobson's 1790-1803 first American edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, as the latter was considered "too voluminous and expensive." The plates are engraved by Doolittle, Scoles, Reed and others. Sabin 52441.
