[ENLIST]. Circa 1916
One of the few World War I recruiting posters to use photography as the principal element. The premise of this wordless appeal is the 1914 image by Alfred Leete of Lord Kitchner pointing his finger and calling on Britains to enlist (this image was also the basis for James Montgomery Flagg's famous I Want You ). Here an officer is beckoning to some unseen men. Rickards 13.
39 x 24 3/4 inches
- Condition: Condition B+: restored loss in lower right corner and upper left margin; repaired tears in image.
