(ENTERTAINMENT--FILM.) Poster for the film adaptation of Richard Wright's "Native Son."

(ENTERTAINMENT--FILM.) Poster for the film adaptation of Richard Wright's "Native Son." Two-sheet poster, 54 x 41 inches; light restoration at folds; laid down on linen. [New York]: Classic Pictures, [1951]

  • Notes: "The Dynamite-Loaded Story of a Negro and a White Girl!"

Native Son was not only Richard Wright's best-known novel, he co-wrote the script for this film adaptation, and starred in the lead role after the original star dropped out due to visa problems. Although the novel was set in Chicago, the film was shot in Buenos Aires. This rarely seen poster incorporates a different design and images than the more commonly seen Native Son posters; we have not traced any other examples.
