  • Notes: United States Fractional Currency, 50 cents, featuring an engraving based on the 1864 portrait from life by Francis B. Carpenter. Dated "Act March 3rd 1863" but featuring facsimile signatures of John Allison as registrar and Francis Spinner as treasurer. 1 3/4 x 4 inches; folds, minor wear. New York, circa 1869-75 * A proof printing of the previous portrait engraving only, on an otherwise blank 5 x 8 1/4-inch sheet with heavy platemark * $5.00 bill, series of 1914; folds and moderate wear.
