By the time Erik Nitsche arrived in the United States in 1934, he had studied art in Switzerland and worked for several prominent French printing houses. His graphic design skills led him to be appointed Art Director for General Dynamics in 1955. Nitsche is best remembered for the series of 29 posters he designed for them between 1955 and 1960, representing the most impressive corporate image campaign of its era. The first set of nine posters, Atoms for Peace, was published in more than ten languages for the 1955 Atomic Energy conference in Geneva. Dynamic America p. 393.
