EX-STREETER LIBRARY (CATTLE.) Wyoming Stock Growers Association. Group of 4 maverick books: Spring roundup 1885 district 5, Spring roundup 1885 district 20 and Spring roundup 1886 district 16 and Spring roundup 1886 district 29. Each containing printed Instructions to Foremen, followed by partly-printed forms accomplished in manuscript listing the maverick cattle, their purchasers and brands. 8vo, original cloth wallets, a bit worn. from the library of thomas w. streeter with his booklabel in each. - Notes: The Wyoming Stock Growers Association was a consortium of the larger cattle owners. Since most cattle grazed freely on non-fenced in land, mavericks (unmarked strays) were sold at auction to benefit the Association. Non-Association members who branded mavericks were deemed rustlers and were often hanged. Streeter Sale 2374.
