F. MATTEI ORAN MATIN. 1931.

62 3/4x46 3/4 inches. H. Chachoin, Paris.
Condition B+: restoration and minor overpainting along vertical and horizontal folds; restoration along edges.
Mattei most likely lived in, or had a strong connection to, Algeria, as the only other poster of his we know was for an automobile race in Oran held during the centennial celebration of Algeria's French colonization. Both posters were printed by Chachoin. This whimsical Art Deco image shows a stylized newspaper boy literally leaping through the streets hawking his papers. The red, white, and blue color scheme of the image is a subtle reminder that Algeria was still a French colony.
