  • Condition: This portfolio of 10 F.S.A. photographs is in overall excellent condition. This limited edition set was printed circa 1975 under the supervision of Arthur Rothstein and published by the Photographic Historical Society of New York. Each print with a credit, title, date, and RA number stamp, and all but three with the printer's portfolio stamp, on verso.

The prints are overall in excellent condition, with any individual notes made below. The prints are contrasty, with neat, clean surfaces. The margins are also overall neat, but occasionally show a small soft handling mark, never impacting the image itself.

Dorothea Lange, Hoe Culture, 1936: nearly excellent, with just an extremely soft handling mark near the upper center edge of the image area, only visible with careful inspection in strong, raking light
Dorothea Lange, Migrant Mother, Nipomo, California, 1936: excellent condition

Arthur Rothstein, Farmer and Wife, Colorado, 1939: excellent condition
Arthur Rothstein, Dust Storm, Cimarron County, Oklahoma, 1936: excellent condition
Arthur Rothstein, Sharecropper's Wife and Child, Arkansas, 1935: excellent condition
Arthur Rothstein, Badlands, South Dakota, 1936: excellent condition

Walker Evans, Bud Fields Family, Alabama, 1936: excellent condition
Walker Evans, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 1935: excellent condition

Ben Shahn, Sheriff's Deputy, Morgantown, W. Va., 1935: a superficial fine hairline impression at the far left center edge (horizontal), not at all immediately apparent under typical viewing conditions
Ben Shahn, Linworth, Ohio, 1935: the image area is excellent, but the margins evidence scattered faint stains, possibly from processing

Provenance: The Collection of Neil Robert Berzak
