  • Notes:
In the mid-1940s, Felrath Hines studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago before learning art conservation. From this period through the 1950s, Hines worked in an Abstract Expressionist style while working full-time as a conservator. He was the chief conservator at both the National Portrait Gallery and the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC, and worked as a conservator at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Hines continually maintained his artistic practice. From the 1960s onwards, his works took on a flat, geometric composition, which characterized his work until his death.
