Poster for the film, 41x27 inches; condition fine (A-). Hollywood, 1928

  • Notes: The Norman Studios reunited Lawrence Criner and Kathryn Boyd after the mild success of The Flying Ace (1926). Along with Steve "Peg" Reynolds, a one-legged actor, they star in this true story about John Crisp and his struggle to secure oil in spite of the efforts of a crooked drilling contractor. The entire "all-colored city" of Tatums, Oklahoma, takes part in Black Gold, and one fight scene is staged on Main Street.
