(FILM.) TODDY FILMS. Gun Moll.

(FILM.) TODDY FILMS. Gun Moll. One sheet poster, 41 x 28 inches; creases where folded; one small hole at the conjunction of the folds. New York, [1938]

  • Notes: A lurid film starring Nina Mae McKinney. (1912 - 1967) a talented and beautiful African American actress who got her start on Broadway. MGM as a result signed her to what seemed to be a great five year contract. However McKinney was kept to character roles. She finally broke the contract (after MGM cut most of her scenes from a film,) and left the United States. Abroad she was accepted and dubbed "The Black Garbo." McKinney was one of the first African-American film stars to work on BBC television.
