FLEMISH SCHOOL, LATE 16TH-CENTURY
A Maenad in a Loosely Hanging Dress. Pen and black ink and gray wash on cream laid paper, 1600. 240x133 mm; 91/2x5 inches. Dated in gray wash, lower right recto. The drawing style is vaguely reminiscent of Maerten de Vos, yet more unconventional and lively. Other elements, such as the hand, show the influence of Bartholom„us Spranger.
