  • Notes: An account of two battles in the Second Seminole War, both disastrous for the American troops. In the Dade Massacre of 28 December 1835, a force of 110 infantry and artillery were nearly wiped out in an ambush, with only two survivors. In the Battle of Lake Okeechobee (25 December 1837), the Seminoles inflicted heavy casualties on a much larger force led by Zachary Taylor. Howes A193; Sabin 987. None known at auction.
