MISSION NOTES RECORDED BY NEIL ARMSTRONGFLOWN Apollo 11 Flight Plan. A single sheet approximately 8x10 inches being page 3-128 and 3-129 from the flight plan. This page has important entries made by Commander Neil Armstrong on the last day of the historic Apollo 11 lunar landing mission. With a Typed Letter Signed by Buzz Aldrin describing the last day of the flight. NASA/MSC, 1969
-
Notes: The Aldrin letter reads in part: "Page 3-128 lists hours 186 to 188 which were hours 5 and 6 of (our) rest period. We were a bit busy getting ready for re-entry and Neil and myself only got 5.5 hours of sleep. Michael Collins did a bit better and got a total of 7 hours of sleep. This was the final rest period of the Apollo 11 mission.
"Side 3-129 has the last hour of the rest period. In the notes column on the right side of 3-129, Neil Armstrong recorded the length of sleep in hours for each crew member. These notes read: 'CDR - 5.5, CM - 7, LMP - 5.5.' These numbers were then communicated to Mission Control. He also checked off 5 steps of the Post Sleep Checklist.
"Mission Control radioed the amount of consumable we had used as of 189 hours into the mission. Again, Neil recorded that information in the Consumable Update data box. His notes read: '189:00, -1%, -11, +10, -1, -1' which was the mission time and the total percent change in our Service Module Reaction Control System (1%) with the other 4 numbers actual use from the A, B, C, and D rocket engine groups. The last entries by Neil were: ' -.726 #, +17.6 #.' Those were the hydrogen and oxygen quantity changes in pounds up to that time.
"Our entry trajectory was so precise that plans for the Mid Course Correction burn number 7 were not carried out. We were then able to have a bite to eat then prepare for our return to earth on July 24, 1969. This page has been in my private collection since 1969. I have written on side 3-129: 'Carried to the Moon on Apollo XI' and signed it along the top part of that page. I have also signed side 3-128." - Condition: All items are offered for sale subject to Swann Galleries' standard terms and conditions of sale, which are published in our catalogues.
