Notes: believed to be the very first toothbrush for inflight use carried on a united states space mission.
"Faith 7" was the longest Mercury mission, some 34 hours in duration. Several meal periods were scheduled, thus the need for an oral hygiene system. Gordon Cooper suggested that a simple trip to a drug store to pick up a regular toothbrush should do the trick. A small velcro patch was added to secure the item during weightless flight. With a Typed Letter Signed by Cooper which allows the toothbrush to be displayed between paragraphs.
