FLOWN Gemini 5 Medallion. An approximately 1-inch circular gold-plated sterling silver medallion carried on the Gemini 5 flight by Commander Gordon Cooper. The medallion illustrates a covered wagon with the mission motto "8 Days or Bust." With a Typed Letter Signed by Cooper certifying the medallion was flown and describing the mission. NASA, 1965
- Notes: The mission date (August 21 - 29, 1965) is engraved on the reverse side. The letter reads in part: "The covered wagon reflects the pioneering sprint of this early Gemini flight. Our successful completion of Gemini 5 marked the beginning of the U.S. lead in manned space exploration. The medallion is from my personal collection."
