FLOWN Teleprinter Book. A blue outer cover 13x9 inch tri-fold notebook with three side pockets to hold cue cards and print-outs that came from the Skylab onboard teleprinter machine. The center section contains a notepad with the last inflight notes recorded by Paul Weitz. Three actual print-outs varying from 14 to 48 inches in length are still stored in one side pocket and each has manuscript notes or marks made by Weitz during the flight. There are three 8x3 inch cue cards labeled: SLEEP C/L (Check List), SL-1/2 FDF (Flight Data File) Stowage, and S/HK (Standard House Keeping). Each are stored in a side pocket. An identification stamp on the outer cover reads: "PLT Teleprinter Message Book, P/N (Part Number) SKC 321001155-306, S/N (Serial Number) 1028." NASA/MSC, 1973

  • Notes: a significant flown artifact from the skylab program.
Astronaut Weitz used this book daily while working inside the Skylab space station. It could be conveniently placed inside his jacket or long leg pockets of his Durette inflight suit. With the repairs and changes to the mission after the loss of Skylab's micro-meteoroid/sun shield during launch, Weitz found this book an essential tool to record and store the many updates and flight plan changes to complete a successful 28 day space mission.
Each cue card and each teleprinter message has been inscribed and signed: "Flown on Skylab I (SL-2), Paul Weitz, PLT."
