President takes time out for fishing: "I shall never forget the good fun"

recalling their fishing cruise in Nova Scotia and looking forward to repeating it. 1 page, 4to, White House stationery; faint staining at edges, horizontal fold, remnants of hinging at upper edge verso.

Washington, 14 September 1936. 

  • Notes: "Ever since I came ashore from that wonderful cruise I have, as you know, been dashing around from pillar to post . . . . I shall never forget the good fun even though we did not get a fish. . . . [W]e must do it again and then we will surely hook one. . . ."


    With--Eleanor Roosevelt. Two Typed Letters Signed, as First Lady, each to Dorothy Stafford ("Dear Dorothy"), conveying that the President suggests that the League [of Women Voters] support whatever is good in the Black-Connery Bill, thanking for looking after the Congregational minister, or conveying that her proposed amendments were given to the President. Each ½ page, 4to, "White House" stationery. Washington, 28 May; 30 June 1937.
