A noted painter and printmaker from Chicago, Fred Jones did numerous watercolors throughout his career. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago with George Neal, the first African-American instructor there, and Eldzier Cortor, the great painter. Jones became involved in the Southside Community Center in the early 1940s. His work is found in the Atlanta University Collection of Afro-American Art, the Evans-Tibbs collection, Washington, DC and the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Walker, Little Rock, AK.
