With--NICOLAS POUSSIN (follower of). Venus and Cupid, pen and brown ink on cream laid paper. 193x102 mm; 7 5/8x4 1/8 inches. Inscribed "Niccolò Possino" in ink, upper margin recto. Poussin (1594-1665), together with the Flemish sculptor Francois Duquesnoy, is known to have drawn from the classical statues and reliefs he saw in Rome in the early 17th-century.
