Condition: This first edition of Friedlander's "The American Monument," which is bound in gilt-lettered cloth, shows slight overall sunning, with a small area of soiling on the rear cover, and a few, smaller, scattered areas of soiling.
Internally, there is also a very small area of soiling near the top of the front hinge. The lower right corner of Plate 159 is creased (not affecting the image area), and the following two pages show more minor, softer creases in the same area. The binding is tight, and the plates are clean.
Friedlander's contribution to the American bicentennial celebration, this book is lavishly printed, and both rhythmic and rigorous in presentation.
