The Return of the Prodigal Son.
Etching, 1636. 158x131 mm; 6 1/4x5 1/4 inches, thread margins. Usticke's first state (i) (of 4), with faint traces of the lines that were burnished out in the triangular space below the son's right leg and with the full boot of the figure on the step at the right printing. Ex-collection G. A. Cardew (Lugt 1134, verso) and Hirschler (Lugt Supplement 633a, verso). A very good, dark and evenly printed impression overall with strong contrasts.
