    from the collection of books formed in the 16th century by the pillone family of belluno, with fore-edge paintings and decorated covers by Cesare Vecellio (1521-1601), which was acquired in the 19th century by Thomas Brooke. The fore edge of this copy shows miscellaneous animals, birds, and butterflies, with "ARIS." below. The contemporary marginalia throughout the volume are possibly in the hand of Antonio Pillone, founder of the library.
