Single 8vo sheet, 2 horizontal creases, folded back at top and bottom edges, glue remnants on verso along bottom margin, visible on recto just barely touching last line. Inscribed in the bottom margin "To Private William J. Coleman Co. F. 39th Infantry." Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Frost''s hand, postmarked Cambridge, Mass 27 April 1943. Notes: 18 years after he inscribed this copy, Frost would recite the poem at the inauguration of John F. Kennedy. He had planned to read the poem "Dedication" but, blinded by the glare of sun on the snow, he instead recited "The Gift Outright" from memory.
