GARVEY, MARCUS. An Appeal to the Soul of White America. [8] pages. 8vo, original self-wrappers, fore-edge of first leaf slightly soiled. (New York: Universal Negro Improvement Association, 1924)

  • Notes: Offprint of a magazine article which appeared in 1923. The pamphlet proposes an unlikely union with white power groups, the KKK in particular, in an effort to promulgate the separation of the races by means of a mass emigration to Africa. The idea of sitting down with the enemy backfired on Garvey, losing him the support of many African-Americans. Not cited in the standard references.
