(GARVEY, MARCUS.) Moses, William H. The White Peril.
8vo, original cloth, backstrip somewhat faded, lettering on front cover rubbed. Philadelphia: Lisle Carey Press, [1919]
- Notes: first edition. Bishop William Moses, known as the "Baptist Garvey," was in fact a close associate of Marcus Garvey, and was involved in a disastrous attempt to negotiate an agreement with the Ku Klux Klan. This led to many defections from Garvey's circle. Moses, pastor of the Philadelphia Zion Baptist Church, was asked to leave by a number of the church elders, but he stood by Garvey throughout his indictment on mail fraud charges and he continued to speak on Garvey's behalf.
