 Folio, lacking 6 of 8 preliminary leaves in signature A (including the title page); lacking 3 text leaves [Nn5, Qqq5 & Qqq6]; Qqq1-4 misbound between leaves I2 and I3 [after folio 44]; illustrated with text woodcuts at the beginning of the Knight's Tale and the Squire's Tale; divisional title for the Romance of the Rose; text in two columns in gothic letter with ornamental woodcut initials; bound in full modern tan calf; missing pages supplied in photocopy facsimile and bound in; Qq6 supplied from a smaller copy; spotting and occasional stains; some blank corners torn away with loss; 12 x 8 in.

  • Condition: A6, A7 (leaf signed A2 inserted from a different edition), B-V6, (Qqq1-4 bound between I2 and I3), X4; Aa-Zz6 (Qq6 supplied form a smaller copy), Aaa-Ppp6 (lacking Nnn5; Qqq1-4 bound after folio 44, between I2 and I3; lacking Qqq5 & Qqq6).
