First London edition in English, large paper issue with 1 3/4 inch gutter margins; translated from the Early Modern Irish Foras feasa ar Eirinn by Dermot O'Connor; engraved full length portrait frontispiece of ninth century High King of Ireland Brian Boru (941-1014) in full armor; illustrated with 2 folding engraved maps; 28 full-page engraved genealogy leaves; and 12 engraved plates showing coats of arms; ex libris Lord Cadogan, likely William Cadogan, 1st Earl Cadogan (1672-1726) with his engraved armorial bookplate pasted inside the front board; bound in full contemporary red morocco ornately tooled in gilt on spines and boards; all edges gilt (binding worn, chipped and rubbed with losses at head and tail and joints cracking; a good candidate for restoration); 15 3/4 x 10 in.
