GEORGE PLATT LYNES (1907-1955) Mel Fillini (face down).

GEORGE PLATT LYNES (1907-1955)
Mel Fillini (face down). Silver print, the image measuring 5 5/8x9 inches (14.3x22.9 cm.), with Lynes' 229 East 47 Street stamp on verso. 1954

Provenance: Wessel O'Connor Fine Art, New York

  • Condition: This beautiful vintage print in George Platt Lynes' classic style of Mel Fellini lying face down before a semicircular object, is in excellent condition. The highlights of the print are bright and clear, with a beautiful tonal range of greys.

Under scrutiny and strong raking light, we can notice a few faint surface imperfections. These are hardly noticeable and written for the purposes of a detailed report. These include two faint linear impressions in the frame area in the lower left quadrant, one slightly entering the image area. Also, a few tiny soft handling creases at the very far edge of the upper and lower left corners. The last one with a tiny spot of very well-done professional retouching.

The print retains no margins, and has very minor rubs at the edges. Its verso is mostly clean, with minor signs of handling.

An usual and beautiful nude depiction in an oval configuration.
