A superb impression of this scarce mezzotint, printing velvety and with warm, subtle coloring. Lennox-Boyd, et als. conclude that this is likely one of the few mezzotints executed by the artist himself in as much as "all other prints published by Stubbs were also published by him and there is no finn evidence that was an exception." This mezzotint was conceived as a color print, with other contemporary color printed impressions in the Yale Center For British Art, New Haven; the Hornby Collection, Liverpool; the Lennox-Boyd collection and 2 additional private collections.
