(GEORGIA.) Rivers, Peter. A Sermon Preached in the Parish-Church of Christ-Church, London... To which is annexed, An Account of The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. 120, [2] pages. 8vo, contemporary paper wrappers, detached and chipped. London, 1764
- Notes: It is the second part of this work that is of American interest. The SPCK was one of the first missionary societies to provide aid to the fledgling colony of Georgia and was also responsible for publishing several of the early tracts relating to it. Indeed it was the founder of the SPCK, Thomas Bray, who convinced Oglethorpe to establish the colony in 1733. This account of the society includes a review of the assistance given to the colony since the founding. Not listed in De Renne or Sabin.
