With an early attribution to Julius Schnorr von Caroldsfeld (Leipzig 1794-1872 Dresden) in pencil, verso.
The pose of this model is known from another drawing by Schnorr von Carolsfeld in Dresden, dated December 22, 1821 (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, Kupferstichkabinett inv. no. C 1908-676). Schorr had initialed life-classes at the Palazzo Caffarelli, Rome, beginning the winter 1819-1820, for the first time since his student days in Vienna. Schnorr and his Protestant friends Freidrich Olivier and Theodor Rehbenitz had been offered to live and work in the palazzo Caffasrelli by the von Bunsen family.
